About this collection and every title

Long before Stagecoach made him a star in 1939, John Wayne (1907-1979) learned his trade in dozens of quick B-westerns. The Lone Star Productions films for Monogram, most of them under an hour and often with George "Gabby" Hayes and stuntman Yakima Canutt, are the best of them.

Angel and the Badman (1947), the first film Wayne produced himself, is the one to start with for a full-length feature; The Big Trail is a widescreen epic of a wagon train heading west.
