Content & Rights Policy
Starlite TV only schedules programs for which we have documented a basis for streaming them commercially in the United States. Every title in our library has a recorded source, rights basis and evidence level. The full database is public: content.csv · titles we excluded and why.
What we air
- Verified - published before 1931. U.S. copyright for works published in 1930 or earlier has expired.
- Verified - U.S. federal government works (NASA, U.S. Army, Navy, Department of Agriculture, etc.), which are not protected by copyright (17 U.S.C. §105).
- Verified - Creative Commons licenses that permit commercial use (CC BY, CC BY-SA). Attribution is given below. We do not use NonCommercial (NC) or NoDerivatives (ND) licensed works.
- Strong - copyright not renewed / no notice. Films widely documented as public domain (listed with sources in Wikipedia's list of U.S. public-domain films, which cites film-archive and trade references). We additionally exclude films whose underlying novel, play, story or songs may still be protected.
Titles rated "Needs review" are kept off the air until stronger evidence is found. This is a good-faith policy, not legal advice; rights can be complicated, especially for underlying works and music.
