About Merrie Melodies: Inki and the Minah Bird (1943)

Inki and the Minah Bird is a 1943 Merrie Melodies short directed by Chuck Jones. The short features Inki and was released on November 13, 1943.

Inki is an African young boy hunting small animals with a spear. One creature he briefly tries following is a minah bird, which walks across the scene with a hopping gait. Unlike Inki and all the other creatures in the cartoon, the minah bird shows no emotional reactions or changes in facial expression regardless of circumstances. Inki then encounters a fearsome lion. The lion then chases the boy, who briefly winds up in the lion's mouth, but escapes with the lion's teeth, revealed to be a set of dentures.
