About The Beverly Hillbillies: Granny's Spring Tonic

"Granny's Spring Tonic" is episode 27 of season 1 of The Beverly Hillbillies, first broadcast on March 27, 1963 on CBS. It was directed by Richard Whorf and written by Paul Henning & Phil Shuken.

Granny has made a batch of her annual spring tonic. The family is reluctant to take any. Miss Jane introduces Drysdale to her brilliant-but-frumpy bank protegee, Gloria Buckles (Lola Albright). Gloria volunteers to take Jed some papers that need to be signed. What Miss Jane doesn't know is that Gloria is really a sultry gold-digger with eyes for Jed's $34 million.

The Beverly Hillbillies (CBS, 1962-71) follows Jed Clampett (Buddy Ebsen), a mountaineer who strikes oil and moves his family, Granny (Irene Ryan), daughter Elly May (Donna Douglas) and nephew Jethro (Max Baer Jr.), to a mansion in Beverly Hills, next door to his banker, Milburn Drysdale. It was the top-rated show in America in its first two seasons.
