About A Day of Thanksgiving
A Day of Thanksgiving is a 1951 educational short from the Centron Corporation of Lawrence, Kansas, filmed with non-professional local actors. The Johnsons, a garage mechanic's family, can't afford a turkey this year, and the children are crushed, until their father leads them to count the freedoms and everyday blessings they still have. Unusually for a Cold War classroom film, it doesn't tie happiness to buying things. It airs on Starlite TV's Family Room channel (CH 10).
