About The Beverly Hillbillies: Jed Throws a Wingding

"Jed Throws a Wingding" is episode 20 of season 1 of The Beverly Hillbillies, first broadcast on February 6, 1963 on CBS. It was directed by Richard Whorf and written by Paul Henning & Phil Shuken.

The Clampetts get a letter saying that Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs are coming to Beverly Hills. Granny thinks they're coming to see Pearl as the two were former suitors of hers. They then think that one of them will propose as the letter mentions an engagement. But, the duo were actually referring to a concert they have in the Los Angeles area. And in fact, they are already married to Louise Scruggs (Midge Ware) and Gladys Flatt (Joi Lansing).

The Beverly Hillbillies (CBS, 1962-71) follows Jed Clampett (Buddy Ebsen), a mountaineer who strikes oil and moves his family, Granny (Irene Ryan), daughter Elly May (Donna Douglas) and nephew Jethro (Max Baer Jr.), to a mansion in Beverly Hills, next door to his banker, Milburn Drysdale. It was the top-rated show in America in its first two seasons.
