About Felix the Cat: All Puzzled (1924)

Felix the Cat was the first cartoon superstar. Created at Pat Sullivan's studio, where Otto Messmer did most of the animating, the black cat with the wide grin starred in well over a hundred silent shorts in the 1920s, famous for surreal gags in which Felix turns his own tail, or a question mark floating over his head, into whatever tool he needs.

Felix has to help his master find the answer to a crossword puzzle before he is allowed to feed.
