About The Night Before Christmas (1905)
The Night Before Christmas is a 1905 silent short directed by Edwin S. Porter for the Edison Manufacturing Company, and the first film made from Clement Clarke Moore's 1823 poem. Lines of the poem introduce each scene: Santa Claus (Harry Eytinge) feeds his real reindeer and finishes in the workshop, the children hang their stockings and start a pillow fight, and Santa's sleigh flies over a miniature landscape on its way down the chimney. It airs on Starlite TV's Silent Pictures channel (CH 12).
