About Case Files

Case Files is a crime and mystery channel, with a strong focus on film noir — the dark, stylish American crime dramas of the 1940s and 1950s — alongside detective stories and early thrillers. If you like hard-boiled dialogue, rain-slicked streets and characters who make one terrible decision, this is your channel.

Prime-time headliners include Alfred Hitchcock's silent breakthrough The Lodger (1927) and his early talkie Murder! (1930); Fritz Lang's Scarlet Street (1945), with Edward G. Robinson; Orson Welles's The Stranger (1946); Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes in Dressed to Kill (1946); and D.O.A. (1950), whose hero spends the film investigating his own murder. Wednesday nights are Noir Wednesday.

All titles are public domain in the U.S., and the research behind each one is listed on its page.
