About Graveyard Shift

Graveyard Shift is Starlite TV's horror channel, devoted to the films that created the genre's most enduring images. It spans more than half a century, from silent-era shadows to the late-1960s independent film that reinvented the zombie, so you can see how screen fear changed over time.

Headliners include F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu (1922), the first great vampire film; Lon Chaney's unforgettable unmasking in The Phantom of the Opera (1925); Conrad Veidt's haunting performance in The Man Who Laughs (1928); Bela Lugosi in White Zombie (1932); the jungle manhunt of The Most Dangerous Game (1932); Roger Corman's darkly comic The Little Shop of Horrors (1960); and George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead (1968). Every October the channel adds a Fright Friday theme night and a Halloween schedule.

Some of these films are genuinely frightening and some are more camp than creepy, but all of them are part of horror history. Each title is public domain in the U.S., and its page lists the evidence we checked.
