About Adrenaline

Adrenaline is Starlite TV's home for old-fashioned movie thrills. The channel draws on the era when Hollywood invented the action film: swashbuckling heroes leaping from balconies, biplanes duelling over the trenches of the First World War, chariots thundering around an arena and explorers pushing into uncharted jungle. Most of what airs here was made between the late 1910s and the early 1950s, when stunts were real, sets were enormous and special effects were built by hand.

Prime time belongs to the big names. Douglas Fairbanks created the screen's first great masked avenger in The Mark of Zorro (1920); Wings (1927) won the very first Academy Award for the top picture of the year; Howard Hughes spent years filming the aerial battles of Hell's Angels (1930); and the 1925 Ben-Hur still has one of the most famous chariot races ever filmed. Around them the schedule rotates serials, jungle adventures and B-movie programmers that show how the genre was built, one cliffhanger at a time.
